How many treatments?
The perennial question still doesn't have an easy answer. I've treated people
with
acute back problems, babies with colic, frozen shoulder, skiing injuries, and even TMJ syndrome, with over 90% reduction
in symptoms after only one session. I wouldn't be doing either of us a favour
if I
pretended that this happens regularly. It is best to assume that
you will need between four and six sessions - usually weekly.
Many problems either resolve over that period, or it becomes clear what
further action is appropriate. Less urgent conditions can be treated every 2
or 4 weeks
with excellent results - Craniosacral treatments carry on working when you
leave the clinic,
and often produce permanent changes. The effectiveness of the craniosacral
treatment can be extended by frequent use of a
stillpoint inducer.
Most people who come to see me for a few sessions actually ask
to have treatment for much longer - even if the original condition has cleared.
This is because CST helps in many
ways which go
far
beyond pain management, releasing nerves and blood vessels,
or spinal realignment. Craniosacral treatment often helps to release memories
from the
physical body tissues, which can in turn help to release limiting life-patterns.
Many people who have already received counselling, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy
and NLP
find that CST can free them from patterns which they have reached a good
understanding of,
but which have not fully released.

... about Andrew Cook
MSc RCST
(See main biography webpage for more).
I have been practicing complementary therapies for over 10 years,
(CST since 1994) and bring a wide range
of experience and knowledge to each session. My original training as an
engineer and
researcher gives me a pragmatic view of complementary approaches to health.
For a few of my views on health and illness (and how to be healthy), see the
"
more about Craniosacral
" web page.
I am one of the few people in the UK to have trained with both the Upledger
Institute
and the College of CranioSacral Therapy in London (Thomas Attlee).
RCST means Registered CranioSacral Therapist - i.e. a member of the
Cranio-Sacral
Therapy Association. I am also a member of the Independent Practitioners
Network (IPN).
This organisation consists of a collection of local practitioner peer
supervision groups who give practical support to its members.
