This open workshop is designed for anyone who would like hands-on experience of the basics of this extraordinary and far - reaching therapy.

For the layperson, the workshop will provide a starter kit of simple but very useful techniques for home use in many routine health situations as possible alternatives to medication. For the healthcare practitioner or student who may be thinking about professional training, this workshop is an ideal taster and confidence builder.

For everyone this workshop provides a fascinating and enjoyable weekend, and what could be a personal turning point. Practical work is demonstrated and taught in simple units along with associated body energy work. The theoretical basis for each unit is presented clearly and entertainingly.

CranioSacral Therapy was originated, and continues to be developed after 26 years, by American Osteopathic Physician Dr John E. Upledger DO, OMM, who has taken the work of Dr W. G. Sutherland, discoverer of cranial osteopathy, researched it with the help of other scientists, and developed from it a system of whole-person therapy which is safely learned and applied by practitioners having sensitivity of touch and good intention.

Purpose

To provide a first experience of and insight into methods of working through fascia and the "core" system to facilitate a therapeutic outcome. This will be of benefit to :

  1. Lay people wishing to acquire some basic skills to augument their family healthcare resources
  2. as a pre-introduction to CST workshops for people wishing to take these skills into a professional setting
  3. and for those who are simply curious
  4. The following topics and experiences are covered :

    • General introduction to Craniosacral Therapy (CST) an dthe Craniosacral rhythm
    • History of CST
    • Palpation and description of the Craniosacral Rhythm
    • Anatomical and functional principles
    • Tensegrity as a model for bodywork and the body-mind connection
    • The idea of tissue memory
    • The electrical body - working with the heart
    • Practical application of Intention
    • Trauma and health as intelligent entities : Energy Cysts, Fulcrums and Solitons
    • Demonstration treatments with commentary
    • Lots of Hands-on experience - techniques covered will include the major fascial diaphragms of the body - I adjust the practical content to suit the class
